      SOLUTION: This exhalation gas sensor device 10 includes an exhalation collection box 12; an outside air introduction part 24 for introducing a sample gas into the exhalation collection box 12; CNT (Carbon Nano Tube) gas sensors 40a, 40b, 40c provided in the exhalation collection box 12, and having each electric resistance changing by adsorbing a specific chemical substance; a detection part for detecting a change of the electric resistance of the CNT gas sensor 40a or the like; and exhaust parts 28, 29 for discharging gas inside the exhalation collection box 12 to the outside. Each of the CNT gas sensors 40a, 40b, 40c includes a CNT structure whose surface is modified by a material selected corresponding to the specific chemical substance which is a measuring object. A shutter 41 for separating the inside of the exhalation collection box 12 into two spaces may be provided in addition.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chemical substance sensing element that uses carbon nanomaterial that is manufactured easily and has high gas selectivity and sensitivity.
      SOLUTION: This chemical substance sensing element is formed of an easily manufactured carbon nanostructure, and has gas selectivity by surface modification by alkyl group. The chemical substance sensing element shows a sensitivity higher than that of a conventional technology, by surface modification by metal phthalocyanine. The variation of electrical resistance by gas adsorption of this element is variation specific to any of toluene gas 288 and xylene gas 290, can be distinguished from the behavior of N2 gas 286 composing atmospheric air, and has a sensitivity higher than that of the conventional technology.
