    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved socket for a circuit board by the addition of a function of an electric resistor on each contact.SOLUTION: A socket 100 includes a socket body 12 extending in a long direction and a plurality of contacts 110 disposed in two lines in the long direction of the socket body 12. When a memory module 30 is mounted on the socket body 12, terminals 38 of the memory module 30 formed on opposite faces are connected elastically and electrically by the contacts 110. Each contact 110 includes a contact portion 116 connecting to the terminal 38, a bent portion 114 producing elastic force and a base unit 112. The contact is constituted of a conductive metal having a spring property. A resistor 118 composed of an electric resistance material different from the conductive metal is provided on a contact for use for signal transfer among the plurality of contacts. The resistor 118 is placed on a current path between the base unit 112 and the terminal 38 of the memory module 30.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost socket that establishes a reliable electrical connection with an electronic component.SOLUTION: A socket 1 has: a base 10; contacts 20 each having a cantilever elastically deformable portion 24 projecting from an upper surface of the base 10; a slider 30 that is horizontally movable on the base 10; a spring 40 that urges the slider 30 in a direction of an arrow S; and a lock mechanism that locks the slider 30 in a first position and releases the lock on the slider 30. The slider 30 has: a mounting surface 36c on which an electronic device is to be mounted; and a plurality of terminal housing holes 34 that are formed on the mounting surface 36c. Contact portions 24a at respective tip ends of the elastically deformable portions 24 are positioned in the corresponding terminal housing holes 34. When the slider 30 is in a second position, the contact portions 24a of the elastically deformable portions 24 are in respective retracted positions where the contact portions 24a do not interfere with terminals of the electronic device mounted on the mounting surface 36c. When the slider 30 is locked in the first position, the contact portions 24a of the elastically deformable portions 24 are allowed to have contact with the terminals of the electronic device.
