    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refractory member and its construction method capable of giving fire protecting and fire resisting abilities to joints of building members by means of an easy construction method.
      SOLUTION: A refractory member 10 comprises a base material layer 11, a thermally expansive refractory layer 12 and a shock absorbing material layer 13. The thermally expansive refractory layer 12 is formed of a material capable of creating a refractory insulating layer as a result of an expansion of the material caused by heating. The base material layer 11 is preferably comprised of a thin metal sheet or an inorganic fibrous unwoven cloth, and its surface or a part of the surface is desired to be laminated with a pressure sensitive adhesive layer 14. The refractory member 10 is bent twice or more or is made round, and then it is inserted to a joining portion of each exterior wall finishing member.
