    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sizing agent composition having good storage stability of the composition, scarcely generating stains in use, preventing increase of slipperiness of paper and imparting the paper with excellent sizing performance.SOLUTION: The sizing agent composition to be used in production of paper includes a 2-oxetanone compound and satisfies the following requirements (1) to (3): (1) the 2-oxetanone compound is produced by reacting a fatty acid mixture comprising 8-20 mass% of 8-10C fatty acids and 92-80 mass% of 12-18C fatty acids, (2) the 2-oxetanone compound is produced by reacting the fatty acid mixture of the requirement (1), where the content of unsaturated fatty acids in the mixture is not more than 2 mass%, and (3) the 2-oxetanone compound is in a liquid state at 25°C.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersant having excellent stability at low temperature.SOLUTION: The dispersant is an emulsifying dispersant for a substituted succinic anhydride sizing agent containing a starch graft polymer obtained by reacting cationic starch having ≥85 mass% amylopectin content and monomers containing (meth)acrylic amide. Preferably, the dispersant has 50 to 95 mass% component originating from the cationic starch of the starch graft polymer and 5 to 50 mass% component originating from the monomers. Further preferably, the cationic starch of the starch graft polymer has ≥95 mass% amylopectin content. By using the dispersant, the substituted succinic anhydride sizing agent having excellent dispersion stability of an ASA emulsion and excellent sizing effect can be provided.
