Only the electrode is constituted of the material having the spring property if the length of the pipe to be treated does not exceed the length of the electrode. The electrode is made into a structure combined with a shaft 4 having the spring property and a electric good conductor 5. This structure is coated with a high-polymer material 6 having heat resistance, chemical resistance, by which the electrode is constituted. The electrolysis polishing of the inside surface of the coiled pipe or the like is executed in this way.

The counter electrode 2 and the material 4 are respectively connected to the negative pole and positive pole of a DC power source 6 through an electric wire 5. Thus, current density between the pipe 4 and the electrodes 5, 6 is made uniform and the entire surface of the pipe 4 can be uniformly descaled.

The inner electrode 6 is also moved in the longitudinal direction of the pipe 4 by travelling a tractive rope 122 wound around pulleys 121. A power source 14 is connected to the electrodes 5, 6 and the pipe 4 to supply electric current for electrolytic pickling. Thus, bubbles of gaseous hydrogen can be effective removed and uniform satisfactory descaling can be carried out.
