SOLUTION: This solid golf ball consists of ≥1 layer of cores and ≥1 layer of covers formed on the cores to cover the same and is characterized in that at least one layer containing the inner most layers of the cores is obtained by vulcanizing a rubber composition for the cores containing a base material, co-crosslinking agent, vulcanization initiator and filler; the cores have central hardness 40 to 60 pursuant to JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) C hardness and surface hardness 80 to 95 pursuant to JIS C hardness and the cores have a hardness difference of (B-A) 1 or above and below 10 between the hardness (B) on the side 5 mm outer than the center pursuant to the JIS C hardness and the central hardness (A). SOLUTION: The diameter of a solid central is set 29-36mm and the surface hardness 68-85 in JIS-C hardness to increase an angle of hitting and to reduce the degree of spinning for a larger carry of a driver. Moreover, the degree of deformation under a load of 10-130kgf of the solid center 1 is set 3-5mm so that the solid center 1 is not too hard to obtain a larger carry by maintaining better touching and repulsion characteristic. A larger degree of spinning will improve the controlling performance of short irons. To achieve this, the hardness of a cover 3 is set below 60 in the Shore D hardness but it should be 45-60 because excessive softness will cause a drop in the performance of repulsion.
