摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte circulating type cell by equalizing quantities of electrolytes contained respectively inside tanks for positive and negative electrodes so as to enhance the utilization efficiency of the electrolytes. SOLUTION: An electrolyte circulator cell comprises a positive electrode cell 1A and a negative electrode cell 1B separated from each other via a diaphragm 4, a positive electrode 5 and a negative electrode 6 incorporated in the cells 1A, 1B, respectively, a positive electrode tank 2 for introducing or discharging a positive electrode electrolyte to or from the positive electrode cell 1A, and a negative electrode tank 3 for introducing or discharging a negative electrode electrolyte to or from the negative electrode cell 1B. The tanks 2, 3 are connected at positions below the liquid levels of electrolytes contained inside the tanks 2, 3 via a communication tube 13. The communication tube 13 uniformizes the levels of the electrolytes inside the tanks.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery which does not need to have a non-oxidative atmosphere around it and easy in maintenance, by providing a battery cell and an electrolyte tank for storing an electrolyte therein that is circulatingly supplied to the battery cell, and putting in an air shut-off member with a specific gravity which is lighter than the electrolyte and heavier than air on the upside of the electrolyte. SOLUTION: It is preferable to form an air shut-off member to be put into a solid, a combination of a solid and a gas, a combination of a solid and a liquid, or a combination of a solid, a liquid, and a gas. It is preferable to form an air shut-off member of an inert gas, and the upside of a tank can be left open by putting therein an inert gas heavier than air. An electrolyte 2 is housed in the tank 1 and a plastic plate 3 (an air shut-off member) is put in on the upside thereof. Because the plastic plate 3 floats on the electrolyte 2, the contact area of the electrolyte 2 with air can be sharply decreased, the existence of the plastic plate 3 can be verified visually, and therefore a non-oxidative atmosphere can be confirmed.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly raise the temperature of an electrolyte before start of charge/ discharge by separating a positive electrode cell from a negative electrode cell, allowing the passage of protons acting as charge barrier within both cells, installing a communicating pipe communicating a positive electrode circulation path for circulating a positive electrode solution with a negative electrode circulation path for circulating a negative electrode solution, and a switching means for switching a flow path. SOLUTION: A reaction cell 1 is separated with a separator 4 made of an ion exchange membrane, which passes protons and does no pass other ions. One side separated with the separator 4 constitutes a positive electrode cell 1a and the other side constitutes a negative electrode cell 1b, and a positive electrode 5 is contained in the positive electrode cell 1a and a negative electrode 6 is contained in the negative electrode cell 1b. The positive electrode cell 1a and the negative electrode cell 1b are connected to corresponding tanks through two paths of an inlet path and an outlet path, two tanks are connected with a communicating pipe 13, a valve 14 acting as a switching means for switching a flow path is installed in the communicating pipe 13, and by opening the valve 14, both electrolytes are mixed, cause self discharge reaction to raise the temperature of the electrolyte.
