The compound is useful as a sealing resin for electronic parts or a resin for laminated board, composite material, molded article or adhesive.

Preferably, the above phenolate has a solubility of >=1% in water.

The acid catalyst is preferably used in 1.2-8.0 equivalent ration based on the ingredient B.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermosetting resin composition containing a halogen- containing cyanate ester compound or its prepolymer, another thermosetting resin and a curing agent as essential component, excellent in heat resistance and low in conductivity, and useful for sealing electronic parts, producing laminates, etc. SOLUTION: The thermosetting resin composition consists essentially of (A) a halogen-containing cyanate ester of formula I [A is a 1-6C hydrocarbon; B is a halogen; X is a single bond, a 1-20C hydrocarbon, a carbonyl, a sulfonyl, divalent sulfur atom, divalent oxygen atom; (i) is an integer of 0-3; (j) is an integer of 1-4; (n) is 0, 1], preferably a compound of formula II or its prepolymer, (B) another thermosetting resin (preferably a halogen-free cyanate ester compound or its prepolymer, an epoxy resin or a thermosetting polyimide resin), and (C) a curing agent. The composition is dissolved in an organic solvent. The produced solution is impregnated into a substrate such as the woven fabric or mat of glass fibers, paper, etc., and subsequently thermally dried. The produced prepregs are subjected to a heat-press molding treatment to obtain a laminate.

The organic solvent is evaporated from the organic solvent solution phase to crystallize a stilbenediol of formula II in the water phase. The stilbenediol is useful as an intermediate for organic syntheses.
