摘要： NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R1 is H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or halogen; R2 is alpha-(lower alkylcarbonyl)ethyl]. EXAMPLE:4-( 2-Chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenoxy )-2-alpha-( methylcarbonyl )-ethyl-4'- dimethyldiphenyl sulfone. USE:Herbicide effective to broad-leaved weeds such as wild buckwheat, pale- smartweed, etc., gramineous weeds, cyperaceous weeds, etc. in plowed land by foliar treatment or soil treatment. It is also effective against various weeds in paddy field and is free from phytotoxicity to rice plant. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the hydroxydiphenyl sulfone derivative of formula II with a halide of formula R2X (X is halogen) in a solvent such as benzene, toluence, etc. in the presence of a dehydrohalogenation agent (e.g. pyridine, triethylamine, etc.).

CONSTITUTION:A herbicide obtained by blending N-(alpha,alpha-dimethylbenzyl)-alpha- bromo-tert-butylacetamide with one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of 5-tertiarybutyl-3-(2,4-dichloro-5-isopropoxyphenyl)-1,3,5-oxadiazolin- 2-one, N-p-chlorobenzyloxyphenyl DELTA'-tetrahydrophthalimide, 2,4-dichlorophenyl-1- pyrrolidinecarboxylate and 2,6-dichlorobenzonitrile in a wide blending ratio. The herbicide can be applied effectively after or before the germination of weeds. High effect can be attained by soil treatment or spray foliar treatment.

CONSTITUTION:A herbicidal composition composed of 1 part of O,O-diphenyl-S- (2-methylpiperidin-1-ylcarbonylmethyl)phosphorodithioate and 0.1-0.4 part of a sym-triazine compound of the formula (R1 is Cl, methoxy or methylthio; R2-5 are 1-5C alkyl). Addition of a phenoxy fatty acid compound (esp. 2-methyl-4- chlorophenoxybutyric acid) to the composition further improves the herbicidal activity. It is usually applied to a paddy rice field in the form of granules. The organo-phosphorus compound has rather poor herbicidal effect to the grown weeds, and the combination with the triazine compound eliminates the disadvantage.
