    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize miniaturization of a device and highly-reliable individual authentication, and also enable accurate verification. SOLUTION: The method comprises three-dimensionally photographing, for example, a whole periphery development image along the periphery of a target site to be measured, and authenticating individuals based on the blood vessel patterns obtained. In verification, the image positioning is performed using a skin-surface pattern as reference. The authentication device comprises a light source and an imaging apparatus disposed oppositely to the light source with sandwiching the target site to be measured therebetween, and these light source and imaging apparatus are rotated along the periphery of the target site to be measured.
