C4 open solenoid valves 20, 23. Compressed air from a compressed fluid source 21 is supplied to a bottom chamber 2b, and sludge 22 attached to the top chamber 2a of the abovementioned filtrating member 5 is dropped to eliminate clogging, and now the compressed air intruded into the top chamber 2a through the filtrating member 5 is released to the atmosphere from a pipe 19. This action is restituted after an implementation for a certain while, and filtration of the processing liquid is performed again in good performance.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for electric discharge machining devised capable of carrying out the electric discharge machining by sharply decreasing electrode consumption even under an electric machining condition where a carbon layer is hardly formed on an electrode surface and an electric discharge machining method.
      SOLUTION: The electrode for the electric discharge machining is formed of a sintered body made of a continuous phase made of an electrically-conductive region 3 and a dispersed phase made of fine polycrystalline diamonds 2 dispersed on it, and consequently, it is possible to carry out the electric discharge machining by making rough machining and finishing machining into reversed polarity by sharply decreasing the electrode consumption under various electric machining conditions. Additionally, the electric discharge machining method is a method to discharge-machine a workpiece by the electrode for the electric discharge machining formed of the sintered body made of the dispersed phase made of the continuous phase made of the electrically-conductive region and the fine polycrystalline diamonds dispersed on it and a machining electric current supplied from an electric discharge electric power source circuit connected in the reversed polarity to the workpiece. Consequently, it is possible to carry out the electric discharge machining in high working performance by sharply decreasing the electrode consumption even under the electric machining condition of either of negative polarity connection and normal polarity connection.

    • PURPOSE:To increase the filtrating capacity substantially by performing processing liquid filtrating action and the sludge scrape-off action alternately at certain intervals, and thereby obtaining efficient filtration of the processing liquid without causing clog to the filtrating member. CONSTITUTION:If a control device 13 judges that a certain specified period of time has passed with processing liquid filtrating action made by a filtrating member 5, solenoid valves 14, 17 are closed by control signals C1, C2, while solenoid valves 20, 23 opened by control signals C3, C4. Compressed air from a compressed fluid source 21 is supplied to the bottom chamber 2b, and sludge 22 attached to the top chamber 2a side of filtrating member 5 is scrapped off to eliminate clogging, and now the compressed air intruded in the top chamber 2a via the filtrating member 5 is released to the atmosphere through a pipe 19. Action to scrape off the sludge 22 is implemented for a certain period of time, followed by restitution to the condition for filtration of processing liquid, which will now be conducted with good performance.

    • PURPOSE:To enable products stagnating between electrodes to be quickly eliminated by applying, between an electrode and an article to be processed, an impulse current having a value sufficiently larger than the discharge current to flow during the rest of a pulse-like applied voltage according to the electric discharging state. CONSTITUTION:In a main power circuit control means 14, the pulse rest period corresponds to the time set by a processing condition control means 50 in the normal electric discharging. When any abnormal electric discharge is detected, the main power circuit control means 14 sets a period until the next discharge voltage is applied, namely the rest period of the pulse, to a period larger than the set rest period. And, when the abnormal electric discharge is detected, an auxiliary power circuit control means 32 outputs the gate signal of an auxiliary power circuit 22, turns on/off a switching transistor 28 and allows flow of an impulse current having a sufficiently high value in relation to the discharge current between an electrode 2 and a work 4 during the rest time continuing from the falling of the abnormal discharge current.
