    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the rigidity of a sleeve, to ensure the operation of high quality while reducing an amount of oil leakage by minimizing a clearance between the sleeve and a rotary spools, and to improve the characteristics of a valve by positioning upper ends of vertical grooves adjacent to each other in zigzag. SOLUTION: Upper end positions of adjacent vertical grooves are arranged in zigzag in such manner that a vertical groove 31A is located on an upper position, and lower end positions thereof are arranged in zigzag in such manner that a vertical groove 32A is located on a lower position. By arranging the upper ends of the vertical grooves 31A, 32A formed on an inner surface of a sleeve 24 in zigzag, and arranging the lower end positions in zigzag, the rigidity of the sleeve 24 is increased, and a pressure receiving area of the sleeve 24 can be reduced. Accordingly the generation of distortion of the sleeve 24 caused by the hydraulic oil acting on the inner surface of the sleeve 24 can be inhibited, and the sleeve 24 and a rotary spool 23 can be properly operated by reducing an amount of oil leakage by minimizing the clearance between the sleeve 24 and the rotary spool 23.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify structure and to reduce the number of part items and manufacturing cost while maintaining and improving a feeling of straight advancing stability during medium and high speed travel in a reaction mechanism for a hydraulic power steering used for a vehicle. SOLUTION: A reaction mechanism 20 for a hydraulic power steering constituted to feed either one of lateral oil chambers of a power cylinder according to the relative rotation quantity difference between an input shaft 3 and a sleeve 8 rotated integrally with an output shaft 4, to output steering assist force and to impart pre-load to a torsion bar 5 in neutral, comprises a ring-like ball holder 21 integrally connected to the end of the sleeve 8 by caulking or press-fitting and having a plurality of through holes 28 circumferentially to insert balls 22; a plurality of balls 22; a ring-like plate spring 23 for pressing the balls 22 from the outside; and a cam face 25 formed at the outer peripheral surface of the input shaft 3 and having recessed parts for seating the balls 22. In neutral, the plate spring 23 presses the balls from the outside to seat them in the recessed parts 26 of the cam face 25 through the through holes 28 of the ball holder 21.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damper valve for a hydraulic power steering device of a vehicle capable of establishing an improved damping performance, eliminating the resisting or sticking feeling in the steering operation, particularly in the low-speed running, enhancing the comfortableness in steering, and decreasing the number of component parts. SOLUTION: A damper valve 30 of a hydraulic power steering device is equipped with a piston valve 46 installed in a working oil circuit tying an oil passage selector valve in a gear box to the left and right oil chambers of a power cylinder and opening with a flow of a working oil circulated back to the oil passage changeover valve from either of the left and right oil chambers and a check valve 40 installed in the valve element 36 of the piston valve 46 and allowing flow-through of only the working oil supplied to either oil chamber of the power cylinder from the oil passage selector valve. The piston valve 46 forms a throttled oil passage with flow-through of the circulated working oil having a pressure below a certain level and forms a full open oil passage with flow-through of the circulated working oil having a pressure over the specified level. Oil passages 39 and 36a for the circulated working oil are formed in the valve element 36 of the piston valve 46.
