CONSTITUTION:(A) Methyl jasmonate of formula I widely compatible with other perfumes and having been used as an additive for a variety of base perfumes with flower smell, or (B) its mixture with its epimer of formula II, containing e.g. ca.1-5wt.% of said epimer, is reacted at 30-200 (pref. 30-100) deg.C by heating to enhance the concentration of the epimer with fragrance 400 times higher than that of the compound A, thus obtaining the objective mixture with intense fragrance because of containing the epimer at such a high concentration of 6-8wt.% and also with higher thermal stability than that of the conventional goods.

The compound shown by the formula is obtained by adding sulfur powder to pyridine and dimethylformamide, introducing an ammonia gas to the solution, adding myrcene to the solution, carrying out reaction at 110 deg.C, removing the solvent after the reaction, extracting the reaction product with an ether, washing it with an aqueous solution of an acid and water, drying and purifying. The compound shown by the formula itself is a substance having smell far from floral-like perfume.
