摘要： PURPOSE: To prevent production of by-products such as acid and base becoming disadvantage after a reaction and to enhance a reforming degree of the surface reformed silica, since the reaction activity for a treating agent is high, and to impart excellent physical properties to rubber, in the case that the silica is especially used as a filler for silicone rubber, by using a specific silanediol as a surface reforming agent. CONSTITUTION: Silica powder may be used in a dry state but in the case of slight water content, the treating degree is more enhanced and the water content of 0.05 to 7wt.% is preferable. The silanediol as the treating agent is expressed with a formula: R R Si(OH)2 (in the formula, R , R are methyl and vinyl). The quantity to be used is 5-50 pts.wt. for 100 pts.wt. silica powder. In a surface treatment of the silica, the silica powder is thoroughly brought in contact and mixed sufficiently with the silanediol at room temp. and the reformed silica is obtained after storage for about one day to one month, but the reaction can be accelerated by treatment under heating, as necessary. For example, heat treatment at 150-250 deg.C for about 30min. to 8 hours is recommended.
