    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alumina-magnesia cast material having excellent spalling resistance and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A primary raw material containing alumina, magnesia, silica, alumina cement and a dispersant is compounded. The compounded primary raw material is kneaded, and the kneaded primary raw material is molded and fired. The fired primary raw material is crushed to form alumina-magnesia large grains having a grain size of 8-50 mm. The alumina-magnesia large grains are added to a secondary raw material comprising 2-15 wt.% of an MgO component, 75-97.3 wt.% of an AlOcomponent, 0.2-3.0 wt.% of an SiOcomponent and 0.5-4.0 wt.% of a CaO component, in an amount of 5-40 wt.% in terms of outer percentage, to make the objective alumina-magnesia cast material.
