Information obtained by connecting the icon patterns is displayed on a display part 5 by a display control part 3 and VRAM 4. Even if data are massive, data quantity can precisely be displayed without the need of a wide display space and the grasping of data quantity by the operator becomes easy.

    • PURPOSE:To collectively edit the sentences even though a single character string includes both parts that have to and not have to be corrected by deciding the editing methods of all character strings having the designated areas based on the information on the head character of each area. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 1 includes a head character recognizing part 1a which recognizes the information on the head character of a character string having a designated area and a head character dependence processing part 1b which edits en bloc all characters having the designated areas based on the character information. For instance, the underlines are given to only the numeric characters 3-5 by mistake among all numeric characters 1-7 shown on a display screen. In such a case, the areas are designated for both characters 1 and 7 and then the underlines are designated to these characters. Thus the correction is complete. Therefore the information on the head character is recognized and the editing processing accordant with each character is applied to all character having the designated areas. As a result, the collective editing of sentences is attained and no complicated repetitive operation is required.
