摘要： PURPOSE:To readily obtain tetrapod-like ZnO whisker having large size without anisotropy by setting atmospheric temperature in a heat-resistant vessel having air supplying and evacuating port containing zinc powder or metallic zinc at a fixed temperature and indirectly vaporizing the zinc powder or metallic zinc with heating. CONSTITUTION:In a ZnO whisker producing device 1, a burner 5 is ignited. Then, atmospheric temperature in a large crucible 3 is measured by a thermocouple 8 so as temperature of the atmosphere to be a fixed temperature in the range of 750-950 deg.C, preferably 800-850 deg.C. Simultaneously, the large crucible 3 is heated with controlling flow rate of combustion gas in the burner 5. By said method, Zn in a small crucible 2 is evaporated and vaporized Zn is gradually (for several sec) oxidized, then tetrapod-like ZnO whisker is generated in the crucible 2 in a cotton-like state. Said whisker has the above-mentioned characteristics and is suitably used as reinforcing material of plastic, etc.
