    • PURPOSE:To obtain a clear image with high density even when thermal transfer is repeated multiple times, by a method wherein a heat-sensitive sheet provided with a heat-softening layer comprising a coloring material is laminated on a transfer sheet comprising a melting point lowering agent, then an image is impressed by a point form heating element, thereafter only the heat-softening layer is softened, and the both sheets are released from each other. CONSTITUTION:The heat-sensitive sheet 1 in which a heat-softening layer 3 comprising a coloring material and softened at a temperature of 50-120 deg.C is provided on a base and the transfer sheet 4 having a surface 5 comprising a melting point lowering agent compatible with the heat-softening layer 3 in a liquid state and capable of lowering the melting point of the layer 3 are laminated on each other so that the layer 3 is brought into contact with the surface 5 comprising the melting point lowering agent. The heat-softening layer 3 is softened by heating imagewise by a thermal head 6 comprising the point form heating element, and the sheet 1 and the sheet 4 are adhered to each other. After cooling, the laminate is heated to a temperature at which a heat-softening layer part 9 adhered to the transfer sheet 4 and lowered in melting point is softened but the other part is not softened, and the sheet 1 and the sheet 4 are separated from each other.

    • PURPOSE:To enable the preparation of a stencil in a short time and obtaining of a clear printed image by a method wherein a heat-softened layer which is softened at a specific temperature and a sheet are laminated sequentially on a porous supporting substance and thereafter a heat pattern is impressed from the porous supporting substance side or the sheet side. CONSTITUTION:A heat-softened layer 2 which is softened at the temperature of 55-130 deg.C and a sheet 3 are laid sequentially on a porous supporting substance 1. Then, a heat pattern is formed in the heat-softened layer 2 from the sheet side by a heating head 4 and thereby the part of the heat-softened layer corresponding to the heat pattern is transferred onto the sheet 3. Thereafter ink 6 is applied from the porous supporting substance 1 side so as to form an image on recording paper 5. For the heat-softened layer, a high-molecular compound such as low-molecular weight polyethylene, carnauba wax or acrylic resin, or the like, is used in a single or mixed state. This mimeographic stencil can be prepared easily and printed images formed thereby are clear. In addition, the softened layer does not weld to a heating body at all, since the heating body does not touch with the heat-softened layer directly.
