Any degraded area and non-degraded area of the paper sheet are determined based on the detected paper thickness by an engine CPU 2. The staple (post-processing) scheduled position designated in advance from an operation panel 3 by a user is compared with a result of the determined degraded area and non-degraded area to control the staple executing position, and the staple processing is executed at the staple executing position by a peripheral machine CPU 5.
