摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain an expanded graphite for coating film of graphite by intercalating a specific guest substance between layers of graphite to form an intercalation compound and quickly heating the intercalation compound by laser processing. CONSTITUTION:Potassium and graphite are charged into an argon purged glove box 4 so as to provide stoichiometric ratio (KC12) and the interior of the box is evacuated once and NH3 gas is introduced and NH3 gas is condensed by a chloroform slush bath (at -60 deg.C) and allowed to react with potassium in a liquid phase. Then the graphite is fed thereto and allowed to stand at ordinary temperature to afford the intercalation compound K-NH3-GIC. Then the intercalation compound is dropped into a hopper 7 in an expanding device B and further dropped on a feeder 8 and carried forward. An irradiation window consisting of window flat glass 9 is fitted above an irradiation part of the top and a continuous oscillation YAG laser 11 is arranged through both convex lens 10 thereon and the intercalation compound 6 is irradiated with laser beam (e.g. of 1.05mum wavelength) to expand graphite and then the expanded graphite is recovered by dropping.

CONSTITUTION:A guest substance such as K, K-NH3, Br, FeCl3 or SbCl5 is intercalated between the layers of graphite to form an intralaminar compd. This compd. is finely flaked by crushing in vacuum or in an atmosphere of an inert gas or dry air optionally after expansion by rapid heating. When the resulting fine flaky graphite is mixed with a solvent, oil, etc., and used to form a graphite coating film, a long service life and high reliability are obtd.

Using a screen mask of 20-40 microns thick which has a pattern formed by an emulsion, C paste is screen-printed on one or both sides of the substrate 1 and heat set to connect the printed interconnection circuits on both sides by a C film 4 through through-holes 3. The film 4 on the substrate 1 is 10-50 microns thick. Since neither valuable Ag paste is used nor Cu plating requiring a plating bath control and waste water treatment is made, a carbon through-hole printed board 1 can be obtained easily at low cost, without polluting the environment.
