The facsimile equipment main body starts its operation based on the operation data and the operability is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To realize picture information storage functions with low cost by coding newly coded picture information stored in a picture memory according to a coding system corresponding to an updated destination sending mode to use one coder/decoder. CONSTITUTION:When the type of a destination equipment is changed and the content of a function identification signal is not coincident with that of destination sending mode data, a CPU 1 intermits sending control procedures by a communication controller 16 at that point of time. Then the destination sending mode data of the said destination is updated to the content of function notified in this case, the storage content of a parameter memory 3 is updated and a store mode is reset in correspondence to the updated destination sending mode data. Then picture information stored in a main memory 2 is transferred to a code recovery device 13, where the information is restored to the original picture signal and the restored picture signal is stored again in the main memory 2. Then the picture signal stored in the main memory 2 is coded by the reset store mode and the coded picture information is stored again in the main memory 2.
