    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for inhibiting a plasminogen activator inhibitor(PAI) by a plant ingredient that can be taken in as a food. SOLUTION: The technique comprises using an extract from a plant belonging to Zingiberaceae family such as Curcuma zedoaria ROSC., Crucuma longa L. or Zingiber officinale ROSC. as a PAI-1 inhibitor. In this technique, the plant extract is obtained preferably by removing a polar portions from the hydrous ethanol extract, and among the steps 1 to 3 described below, is obtained preferably by the step 2 or 3: (step 1) The plant body of the above plant is subjected to extraction with a 50-80% ethanol aqueous solution followed by concentration. (step 2) The product obtained by the step 1 is subjected to liquid-liquid extraction with n-hexane and water to obtain a n-hexane phase. (step 3) Ethyl acetate is added to the aqueous phase obtained by the step 2 followed by adding water as desired and then conducting a liquid-liquid extraction to obtain an ethyl acetate phase.
