The attenuation means 42 includes a liquid chamber 42b which is formed to be smaller than the elastic body 42a and is disposed in the elastic body 42a, functional fluid 42c comprising magnetic viscous fluid filled in the liquid chamber 42b and variable means 42d which is generated to make a magnetic field variable and changes viscosity of the functional fluid 42c according to the size of the oscillation motion of the outer tank 33. The liquid chamber 42b is formed concentrically with a mounting shaft 32b.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a drum type washing machine that is capable of suppressing development of fungus and mold in a circulation passage.SOLUTION: The drum type washing machine includes: an outer tub 2 disposed in an enclosure 1; a drum disposed in the outer tub 2 in such a state as rotatable by a rotating shaft that is horizontal or inclined from the horizontal direction; a circulation passage communicating from a drain outlet at a lower part of the outer tub with a jetting opening disposed in the opening side of the drum; and a pump that is disposed in the circulation passage and for circulating washing water. The outer tub is provided with an electrolytic cell for producing electrolytic water containing hypochlorous acid. A release passage for discharging air in the circulation passage is connected to the circulation passage, and a topmost part of the opening of the release passage is provided higher than a washing water level in the outer tub. Thus, due to accumulation of air in the circulation passage, a portion which is not filled with electrolytic water is eliminated and the entire inside of the circulation passage is sterilized. Thus, a problem such as insanitation in the circulation passage is solved.
