The separator plate 11 does not come into contact with the fixing roller 6 and the gap between the separator plate 11 and the fixing roller 6 is set shorter than the distance by which a front end of paper leaves the fixing roller 6. The front end of the paper is a little apart from the surface of the fixing roller 6 and a tip portion of the separator plate 11 enters the gap to separate the paper from the fixing roller.
