    • PURPOSE:To permit the air-tight connection and fixing of both of a heat transfer tube and a tube plate with a small expanding rate of the tube, by a method wherein a seal material, having lower hardness than the heat transfer tube and the tube plate, is interposed between the outer peripheral surface of the end of the heat transfer tube and the inner peripheral surface of the mounting hole of the tube plate while said end of the heat transfer tube is expanded from inside under this condition. CONSTITUTION:A seal material 19 is interposed between the outer peripheral surface of the end of a heat transfer tube 6 and the inner peripheral surface of the mounting hole 18 of a tube plate 7. The heat transfer tube 6 is made of copper or the like while the tube plate 7 is made of mild steel or the like. An elastic body, consisting of a high polimerized material such as urethane rubber, fluororubber, fluorine resin or the like, for example, and having a hardness lower than the hardnesses of respective materials such as the heat transfer tube 6 and the tube plate 7 or the like, is suitable for the seal material 19. The tube plate 7 is fixed air-tightly to the cylinder 11 by welding. The end of the heat transfer tube 6 is expanded under a condition that the end of the heat transfer tube 6 is fitted into the mounting hole 18 of the tube plate 7 while interposing a seal material 19 therebetween. According to this method, the end of the heat transfer tube 6 may be connected and fixed air-tightly to the tube plate 7 through the seal material 19.

    • PURPOSE:To preclude bypass current to improve a thermal efficiency and prevent mechanical damages to restrain errosion as well as electric corrosion by a method wherein elastomer sealing is applied to a gap between a baffle plate and the inner wall of the cylinder of a shell as well as the gap between the tube inserting hole of the baffle plate and a tube. CONSTITUTION:An elastomer sealing member 21 is constituted of a fixing part 21a, covering, pinching and fixing the circumferential wall of the tube inserting hole 20 of a baffle plate 10, and a seal lip 21b while the seal lip 21b is provided at the high-pressure side of cooling water and is contacted with both of the outer peripheral surface of a tube 15 and the surface of the baffle plate 10 to effect sealing effect. Another elastomer sealing member 22 is constituted of a fixing part 22a, attached and fixed to the baffle plate 10, and the seal lip 22b while the fixing part 22a is provided with an engaging protuberance for fitting and fixing the fixing part 22a to dovetail groove on the whole circumferential surface of the arc of the baffle plate 10. the seal lip 22b is provided at the high-pressure side of cooling water and is contacted with the high-pressure side of the baffle plate 10 and the inner surface of the cylinder 1 of a shell to effect self sealing effect.
