    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water dispersion method of clay mineral which can disperse smectite based lamellar clay mineral uniformly, a water dispersion type adhesive composition which is made to be composite with the smectite based lamellar clay mineral having high bonding dependability and in which transparency thereof is improved further, an adhesive film with an adhesive layer comprising the water dispersion type adhesive composition, an adhesive type optical film, and an image display device using the adhesive type optical film.
      SOLUTION: Smectite based lamellar clay mineral is immersed into water at 35°C or lower for 24 hours or longer, thereafter a phosphate based dispersant or a polycarboxylate based dispersant is blended with water, subsequently the clay mineral is dispersed into water at 0-35°C with a dispersion apparatus, and thereby the water dispersion liquid of the clay mineral is obtained. The water dispersion liquid of the clay mineral and the water dispersion liquid of a water dispersion type polymer are blended, and thereby the water dispersion type adhesive composition is obtained. The composition is laminated on one surface of an optical film 1 to form an adhesive layer 2, and thereby an adhesive type optical film is obtained.
