    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop and provide a natural material which is safe and inexpensive and can be ingested easily, routinely and continuously, which has a remarkable action of maintaining muscle force and improving joint function, and which is effective for prevention and/or improvement of various muscle force maintenance and joint functional disorders, especially, subjective symptoms resulting from problems with muscles or joints, e.g., joint pain, gait disorder, and decrease in joint movement range.SOLUTION: The composition for maintenance of muscle force and improvement of joint function comprises a wheat protein hydrolyzate, preferably, a wheat gluten hydrolyzate, and especially preferably, a peptide having an L-glutamine content of 15-60 mass% and an average molar weight of 200-100,000 daltons.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which effectively prepares an amylase inhibitor abundantly containing 0.19AI having high amylase inhibitory activity, in a simple step and a short time as compared to conventional process. SOLUTION: The method of preparation for the amylase inhibitor comprises: a step (A) obtaining a stock solution containing the amylase inhibitor; a step (B) collecting salting out insoluble substance by adding salt to the stock solution obtained in the step (A) to salt out the amylase inhibitor as the insoluble substance; and a step (C) collecting the amylase inhibitor from the insoluble substance collected in the step (B). The amylase inhibitor of the invention effectively suppresses secretion of insulin effective for prevention and/or remedy of hyperglycemia, diabetes, lipemia, arterial sclerosis or obesity because the amylase inhibitor has high amylase inhibitory activity on the other hand has no inhibitory activity to trypsin and has high amylase inhibitory activity especially to amylase contained in pancreatic juice.
