摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head gimbal assembly having a diamond-like carbon layer as an intermediate layer.SOLUTION: In a head gimbal assembly of a single or dual stage actuator structure, a diamond-like carbon layer (DLC layer) is provided as an intermediate layer in the boundary part where the dimple of a load beam and the tang of a gimbal are in contact with each other. The use of the DLC layer in the tang dimple boundary part significantly reduces an amount of abrasion wear particulates formed during the operation of a microactuator. A decrease in wear in the dimple gimbal boundary part stabilizes gimbal motion. In the tang dimple boundary part, this DLC layer may be provided on the entire surface of the tang or part of the tang or may be proved on the dimple.
