SOLUTION: The mechanism for a rotating reader block of a cartridge magnetic tape device is provided with a reader block 9 on which a hook section, that captures a reader pin (not shown in the figure) of a magnetic tape, is formed, a rotator 8 which holds the reader block 9 being positioned at a capture position and rotates the reader block 9, a rotator lever 7 which integrally rotates with the rotator 8, a rod 3 which rotatively drives the rotator lever 7 and a loader cam gear 2 which drives the rod 3. SOLUTION: The leader block is configured in such a manner that a hook part 2 for holding a leader pin fixed to the end of a tape is formed near one end, a conveying support part 1 is formed in the other end, one end constitutes a part of a tape winding surface when loaded on the reel hub, and the support part 1 is located on the axial center of the reel hub. On the open side of the hook part 2, at least one projection 4 projected in the peripheral direction of the reel hub is formed closer to one end side than the hook part 2.
