    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide system and method for storing and supplying inert gas, which effectively achieve explosion proof of a cargo tank by storing the inert gas under pressure in a ballast tank, and supplying the inert gas to the cargo tank.
      SOLUTION: The system for storing and supplying the inert gas includes the ballast tank 3 for storing ballast water; the cargo tank 2 set to a larger capacity than the ballast tank 3; an inert gas generator 1 for generating the inert gas; an inert gas pressurizer 13 for pressurizing the inert gas; a ballast tank inert gas piping system 12 with which the inert gas pressurized by the inert gas pressurizer 13 is stored under pressure in the ballast tank 3; and an inert gas communication system 18 for supplying the inert gas stored under pressure in the ballast tank 3 to the cargo tank 2. During unloading a cargo, the inert gas stored in the ballast tank 3 and the inert gas from the inert gas generator 1 are supplied to the cargo tank 2.
