    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-directional input switch with simple structure and assured operation. SOLUTION: Four end part switches 100a to 100d and one center switch 100e are installed on a substrate 10, and the boss part 210 of an end part, switch pressing member 200 and four arms 220a to 220d are connected to each other through a semi-spherical member 230. A circular edge 422 in contact with the semi-spherical member is provided on the substrate side of a hole 421, which allows the stick part 320 of a center stick pressing member 300 to pass therethrough, formed in the upper surface member 420 of a holding member 400 so that the arms of the end part switch pressing member in neutral state slightly press the pressed surfaces 133 of the end part switch to receive the energizing force of a pressing spring 120. The contact part 310 of the center pressing member 300 is also formed so as to receive the energizing force of the spring of the center switch in neutral state.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an appropriate click operation in the pointing device of a magneto-electric conversion element type, which has a clicking function. SOLUTION: The pointing device 10 is provided with a base part 12, an operation part 14 which is supported so that it freely rocks on the base part 12, a magnet 16 carried by the operation part 14, a plurality of magneto-electric conversion elements 18 carried by the base part 12 near the magnet 16 and a switch mechanism 20 arranged between the base part 12 and the operation part 14. The operation part 14 is constituted of a holder 30 carrying the magnet 16 and a cover 32 and a pusher 34, which are connected to the holder 30 so that they relatively move. At the time of inputting analog information, the holder 30 is rocked on the base part 12 with the cover 32 and the pusher 34. Relative displacement is caused between the magnet 16 and the magneto-electric conversion element 18. In a click operation, the cover 32 and the pusher 34 are directly acted independent of the holder 30, and the switch mechanism 20 is operated.
