    • PURPOSE: To obtain a sintered metallic layer having a uniform surface in a titled method for sintering a rolled molding of a mixture composed of metallic powder and synthetic resin binder after adhering and fixing the same by a thermosetting resin compsn. by forming a prescribed chipped surface to said molding.
      CONSTITUTION: The metallic powder molding 3 obtd. by rolling the mixture composed of metallic powder and synthetic resin binder is adhered and fixed via the thermosetting resin compsn. 2 to the surface of a metallic base material 1. The entire part in the circumferential edge part positioned outward with respect to the material 1 surface of the molding 3 is thereupon preliminarily chipped and is worked in such a manner that the chipped surface 3a is tapered in the thickness direction. The compsn. 2 assists the adhering and fixing until the molding 3 is sintered and the sintered metallic layer 4 joined securely with the material 1 is formed when the entire part thereof is subjected to a sintering treatment in a nonoxidative atmosphere. The surface part of the molding 3 shrinks in the thickness direction and the surface direction during the above-mentioned process but the tensile stress is relieved by the presence of the surface 3 and the generation of a camber as with the conventional layer is obviated with the layer 4. The surface having good dimensional stability in not only the surface direction but also the thickness direction is thus made uniform.
