    • PURPOSE:To eliminate an expensive electronic control device, etc. to greatly reduce the cost of a stepless speed change unit, by controlling the gear ratio of the stepless speed change unit with the use of a spool in a gear ratio determining valve which is in turn controlled by a hydraulic pressure corresponding to the load and rotational speed of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A link 178 from a gear shift control device is coupled to a gear ratio determining valve 110 in which the position of a spool 182 is determined by hydraulic pressure corresponding tothe load and rotational speed of an engine. Further, the gear ratio determining valve 110 shifts the position of the link 178 toward the increased gear ratio side when the hydraulic pressure corresponding to the load of the engine varies in the direction in which the load of the engine is increased. Further, the position of the link 178 is shifted toward the decreased gear ratio side when the hydraulic pressure corresponding to the rotational speed of the engine varies in the direction in which the rotational speed of the engine is increased. With this arrangement, the control of the stepless speed change unit may be satisfactory carried out with no use of an electronic control device, sensors, a variable speed motor, etc. which are expensive, thereby it is possible to greatly reduce the cost of the stepless speed change unit.
