    • PURPOSE:To obtain a nonaqueous solvent battery with large battery capacity and preferable charging/discharging cycle by melting vanadium pentoxide as positive electrode active material, at a specified temperature and employing the compound obtained by cooling the melted vanadium pentoxide. CONSTITUTION:A group of electrodes 3 are enclosed in a stainless case 1 through an insulator 2. The group of electrodes 3 has the structure that a strip member in which positive electrodes 4, separators 5 and negative electrodes 6 are sequentially laminated is wound in spiral with a negative electrode being provided outermost. As for the active material of the positive electrode 4, powders of V2O5 and P2O5 are mixed with each other, melted at 800 deg.C to 1200 deg.C and cooled down rapidly to obtain pelletized material. This material is ground into powder of noncrystal V2O5 compound. The powder is mixed with powder of acetylene black and polytetrafluoroethylene to be a sheet which is pressed and fixed on an expander metal current collector to be a strip. Therefore, a nonaqueous solvent battery with large battery capacity and preferable charging/discharging cycle is obtained.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten discharge voltage by using an alkali metal-containing metal halide as a positive active material, an alkali metal or a material capable of absorbing/releasing an alkali metal as a negative active material, and a specified material as an electrolyte material. SOLUTION: A halide containing an alkali metal and at least one metal selected from Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Zr, Nb, Mo, Sn, Sb, Te, Hf, Ta, W, Pb, Bi, binder powder, and conductive material powder are mixed, the mixture is pressed against a supporting body to obtain a positive electrode 6. A negative electrode 4 comprising a negative active material comprising an alkali metal or a material capable of absorbing/releasing an alkali metal is arranged on a sealing plate 1, and the sealing plate 1 is inserted into the recess of a gasket 2, then a microporous separator 5 and the positive electrode 6 are stacked on the negative electrode 4, and an electrolyte material comprising a material which moves to make the positive active material and the negative active material undergo electrochemical reaction is impregnated, then a positive case 3 is fit and caulked for sealing.
