摘要： PURPOSE:To decrease the number of manufacturing processes and to prevent the deterioration of mechanical characteristics, by stranding plural pipe units containing plural optical fibers having splits at outer side of each fiber around a tension member and then protecting these pipe units with a tape and a sheath. CONSTITUTION:Plural pipe units 14 provided with plastic fibers 20 containing plural optical fiber cores 22 are stranded around a tension member made of steel. For the unit 14, a split is formed at the outside and on the radiant ray led from the center. When the units 14 are stranded, a desired number of cores 22 are put toward the inside through the splits with slow sags. The outside of the stranded layer of units 14 is coated with a plastic tape 16 and a laminated sheath 18 to form a protecting layer. In such a way, the cores 22 are inserted before collecting the pipe units. This decreases the number of manufacturing processes. Then the optical fiber core receives no effect of the contraction of the pipe and increases its mechanical strength.

摘要： PURPOSE:To enable easy stripping of optical fibers by the hand work and to improve the property of the optical fiber cable for collective surrounding and branching by constituting a collective protective coating layer comprising ultraviolet ray cured resin of a flexible inner layer and a rigid outer layer. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber tape core cable 10 constituted of plural numbers of optical fibers 12 is produced by covering optical fibers with an ultraviolet ray cured resin and arranging the optical fibers parallely to each other, and a collective protective coating layer 14 comprising an ultraviolet ray cured resin applied to the plural optical fibers 12 collectively. The collective protective coating layer 14 comprises a flexible inner layer 14A and a rigid outer layer 14B which is formed in the outside of the inner layer 14A and having higher rigidity than the inner layer 14A. The inner layer 14A serves mainly to separate the optical fibers 12. On one hand, since the surface of the inner layer 14A is sticky, an outer layer 14B is formed to prevent the generation of abnormal tension in the stage of production. By this constitution, execution of collective connection and branching are facilitated, so the optical fiber is applicable to uses in wide field including wiring system.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve the reliability in gas tightness of a multi-cored optical cable or an optical cable consisting of the tape cores arrayed flatly with optical fiber cores by holding the respective fiber cores in a gas dam separately from each other by means of at least one or more separating and holding members having tack. CONSTITUTION:The sheath in the dam forming part of an optical cable 1 consisting of multiple cores is stripped off for a required length to expose many optical fiber cores 2 and a tension body 6 consisting of a stainless steel wire, etc. and thereafter every plural pieces of the cores 2 are grouped to a set and are press-stuck to plane separating and holding members 8 which have tack on at least the surface layer part and are spaced from each other. The members 8 in this case are shifted in position in the longitudinal direction of the cable so as not to contact with each other. After the members 8 are mounted, a packing material 4 for molding is packed across the press-sticking layers 3 provided at both ends of the cable 1, thereby forming a gas dam part 5.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain an optical cable unit which can be easily connected with stable characteristics, by enclosing optical fiber cores containing buffer layers which are isolated from each other and in parallel to each other with fiber buffers to obtain a circular section and then protecting the outer circumference of the core with a plastic pipe containing metallic lining at its outer circumference. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber core 12 contains three buffer layers 12b-12d formed on an optical fiber 12a. The outside of the core 22 is enclosed by buffers 14A-14C made of the plastic yarns of polypropylene, etc., the woolen yarns, etc. to form an approximately circular section. Then the outside of the buffer is protected with a plastic protecting pipe 16 containing the metallic lining. Thus the wave and bend can be suppressed for the core 12, and the crosstalk is reduced between the cores. In such a way, an optical cable unit with which the connection is facilitated is obtained.

In this case, each fiber blank wire 14 has an optical fiber core 14a and a coating layer 14b formed of hard resin such as acrylic resin around the outer circumference of the core 14a. The buffer material 16, on the other hand, is formed of soft resin such as silicone rubber. When the multicore optical fiber core having the section line this is bent, the optical fiber blank wires are balanced mutually and the buffer material 16 absorbs external stress, thereby preventing transmission loss.

The extruded pipe 7 is guided in the longer die and then in a cooling chamber 9 where it is cooled to obtain the intended linear body. Said longer die is provided with a connected nozzle 6 via which a lubricant is injected so that the sliding friction between the longer die 4 and the pipe can be reduced.

Primary cover of silicone resin is provided on the outer periphery of optical fiber 1A of the strands 1, and a buffer layer 1C made of highly elastic silicone resin is provided on the outer periphery. The layer 1C is somewhat viscous and acts for maintaining and combining of arrangement. Outer periphery of the optical fiber strand assembly is covered with plastic cover 2 such as nylon in flat rectangular form.
