    • PURPOSE:To record and reproduce the volume multiple holography at a high speed without adjusting an optical system and to improve the accuracy of the optical axis by arraying many laser light sources. CONSTITUTION:The luminous flux from a laser group 11 consisting of many laser light sources is split by optical systems 13 and 15 into plural pieces of luminous flux, which are guided to a storage element 12 to interfere with each other. At this time, part of luminous flux emitted at a different position of the laser group 11 is scattered by mutually different storage patterns 16 and then made incident on different positions of the storage element 12, so that the light is recorded as interference fringes of other parts. Namely, the light sources in the laser group are changed without the rotary movement of the storage element 12 nor the mechanical movement of the optical system, thereby obtaining the volume holography. In this case, a surface light emission laser diode array is used preferably as the laser group 11 and this laser diode array is formed by stacking light emission joint parts on, for example, a GaAlAs substrate and then machining the light emission joint parts into a columnar set by etching.

    • PURPOSE:To decrease the interference and interaction with other holograms and to improve reproduction efficiency by forming the multiple hologram element to a polygonal columnar or circular cylindrical shape and forming the central part of a recording medium of a material having a low recording sensitivity. CONSTITUTION:The multiple hologram element is formed in the polygonal columnar or circular cylindrical shape. Parts 15 where the recording sensitivity is high and the parts 16 where the recording sensitivity is low are formed within the volume of the recording medium 14. Parts 17 where interference fringes by the multiple recording of the holograms overlap are not generated in the central part as the central part of the hologram is formed as the low-sensitivity part in such a manner. The noises at the time of the reproduction of the holograms are thus decreased and the generation of the faults in recording and reproducing is prevented. The independent recording parts 18, 19 are wide and the volume of the medium 14 can be effectively utilized in the case of the execution of the multiple hologram recording. Since the parts are spacially separated, the output of a high resolution is obtd. at the time of the reproduction and the reproduction efficiency is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To minimize the loss of incident light and to execute high-speed switching by providing volume hologram elements which emit incident lights to output optical paths based on the optical path information thereof in correspondence to each of respective input optical paths and providing plural rotating devices in these elements. CONSTITUTION:A stepping motor 231 of the optical switch 23-11 is rotated 90 deg. by a control system, not shown, in the case of switching the output optical path of the signal light by an optical fiber 22-11 from the optical fiber 22-11 of an output optical path array 22 to the optical fiber 22-21. The optical path information for the incident signal light is switched to the optical path information relating to the optical fiber 22-21 in this way. The incident signal light is, therefore, made into reflected and diffracted light by the volume hologram element 232-11 of the optical fiber switch 23-11 and is coupled to the incident end face of the optical fiber 22-21. The connecting and switching of the optical path are executed in such a manner. The loss of the incident light is minimized in this way and the high-speed switching is executed.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the recording density with use of an optical disk having a sealed structure excellent in the recording stability, by radiating the light to an organic compound to change the degree of orientation of the light irradiated area of said compound and recording the information. CONSTITUTION:A Cr film 2 serving as a laser light absorbing layer is vapor deposited to a polyethyrene film 1 which is optically active by itself with orientation of uniaxial stretching. Furthermore, the film 1 is fixed onto an annular substrate by adhesion, etc., as necessary for reinforcement of a disk. Then the laser light is radiated to a produced optical recording film via a photomagnetic recording head at the side of the film 1 so as to ensure a temperature higher than a glass transition point of polyethyrene and lower than a melting point of polyethyrene through control for recording a pit. Then, a reading task is carried out by laser and the recorded information can be read out because the orientation is lost at the part heated by irradiation of the laser light and the annular polarized reading light of said part is different from other parts. Thus, the recording density is improved with use of an optical disk which excels in the recording stability.
