    • PURPOSE:To rationalize a testing method for the thunder-proof design of a transmitting apparatus, a communication terminal apparatus and the like and for the evaluation thereof in terms of such properties by a method wherein a testing waveform in accordance with the ratio of trouble of the apparatus is impressed on the apparatus in performing a voltage-resistance test therefor. CONSTITUTION:A voltage-resistance test for an apparatus is performed by using a surge waveform composed of a part 5 of voltage rising in a straight line, a part 6 of discharge voltage -- voltage in accordance with time characteristics -- of an arrester, and a part 7 where the waveform is intercepted. Under the voltage smaller than that of the time characteristics of the arrester, the arrester makes no action and the surge waveforms such as 8 and 9 are all impressed on the apparatus. Accordingly, by performing the voltage-resistance test with the same waveform as in the slanted part, the presence of any trouble in the apparatus due to the surge of thunder can be judged completely. A line of 5 can be decided by selecting the steepness of wave front from the number of occurrence of the thunder-surge voltage exceeding the steepness of wave front. A line of 7 can be determined from the distribution of the duration of wave tail whereby the energy of the thunder surge is decided. Thus, the test for the voltage-resistance can be performed rationally.

    • PURPOSE:To improve reliability and precision of measurement, by measuring the position of a thunderbolt falling place on a basis of the video signal of one video camera, at least, which is arranged in a measuring place and is directed toward a desired angle range, and recording dependent upon a tape recorder of the detection signal of a microphone which is installed in the same place. CONSTITUTION:Video cameras 1, 1' and 1'' of view angle 120 deg. are so installed that the range of 360 deg. can be photographed. When a thunderbolt falls in a certain place, any of video cameras 1, 1' and 1'' photographs lightning, and respective video outputs are subjected to three-division synthesis and are recorded on tape recorder 5 through level detectors 2, 2' and 2'' and special effect amplifier 3. Level detectors 2, 2' and 2'' detect rapid change of the electric signal dependent upon lightning, and their outputs are added in connection point 6 to send a mark signal to recorder 5. Thunderclap dependent upon microphone 4 is recorded simultaneously on this tape. When the tape is reproduced, the direction and the distance of the thunderbolt falling place can be measured surely with a high precision.
