    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide bearing steel excellent in forgeability and machinability and having good rolling fatigue characteristics.SOLUTION: The bearing steel includes, by mass, more than 0.90% and equal to or less than 1.20% C, 0.15-0.35% Si, 0.20-0.50% Mn, 1.0-2.0% Cr, 0.30-1.0% Cu, 0.30-2.0% Ni, 0.003-0.020% N, and 0.005-0.050% Al, the balance being Fe and impurities, wherein P, S, Ti and O are 0.025% or less, 0.025% or less, 0.0030% or less, and 0.0020% or less, respectively, and satisfies formula (1): Cr/C≤2, and formula (2): Ni≥0.41×Cu+0.18. The content (mass%) of the corresponding element is substituted into each element symbol in formulas (1) and (2).
