    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling bearing with a seal for a hard disc drive to have low dusting properties and low torque characteristics and provide an increased life. SOLUTION: A rolling bearing with a seal comprises an outer ring 1 having an outer ring track on an inner peripheral surface; an inner ring 3 having an inner ring track on an outer peripheral surface; a rolling body 5 rollable between the inner and outer ring tracks; a rigid seal sheet 9A arranged from the vicinity of the end part of the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring to the vicinity of the end part of the outer peripheral surface of the inner ring; and lubrication oil 12 with which a gap specified by a rigid seal plate, the outer ring, and the inner ring is filled. Further, the rolling bearing comprises elastic members 10 and 10A attached to at least one end part 9a of the rigid seal plate, making contact with a recess 1a formed in the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring; and an oil repellant film, attached to at least one of the other end part 9a of the rigid seal sheet, making access to and positioned facing each other in a non-contact state, and the outer peripheral surface 3a of the inner ring, and containing a component hardly wet by lubrication oil.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required for a pressure endurance test by performing a predetermined number of times of pressure endurance before a break limit to predict the number of times of the pressure endurance on the basis of the strength ratio of the obtained tensile strength to the tensile strength of a new article. SOLUTION: A pressure endurance test is performed with a simple substance of a paper friction material as a test piece by pressure number of times (for example ten thousand times and twenty thousand times) on two points A, B before a ratio of tensile strength reaches the degradation limit value (about 50% of the case of a new article). The tensile strength of the test piece in two points A, B is measured to obtain the strength ratio (for example 82% at point A and 72% at point B) of the new article to the test piece. These two points A, B are plotted on a one sided logarithmic graph to obtain the pressure number of times (for example eighty thousand times) in an intersection point of the extension of a straight line interconnecting two points A, B and a degradation limit line L, and set this value as the pressure endurance life. Thus, the break life of the paper friction material can be predicted without performing the pressure endurance test up to the break limit to substantially shorten the test time.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make abrasion of the whole inner ring raceway and the outer ring raceway proceed uniformly and thereby improve durability by differing from each other the properties of the opposing sides in the circumferential direction of the retainer for a rolling bearing at a part of the inside circumference of respective pockets for retaining a plurality of rolling elements in a rolling free manner. SOLUTION: A retainer 6a' is provided with a pocket 7 for retaining a ball 5 in a rolling free a manner in a plurality of places in the circumferential direction of an annular main part 11. Among a pair of elastic pieces 12a, 121b arranged for composing these pockets 7, the inside circumference of one of the elastic pieces 12a is made in a spherical recessed surface 13 and the inside circumference of the other elastic piece 12b is made in a cylindrical surface 14. Thus resistance of respective balls 5 acting when the balls 5 roll in one direction and resistance of respective balls 5 acting when the balls 5 roll in the other direction are differed from each other, and even when the inner ring and the outer ring making relative rotations through respective balls 5 make a reciprocating oscillation at respective same places, the respective balls 5 and the retainer 6a' are made to make a revolving motion and abrasion of the inner ring raceway and the outer ring raceway are uniformly proceed.
