    • PURPOSE:To permit effective utilization of a dissipated heat and to improve thermal efficiency, by a method wherein a hood, forming a space in cooperation with the outer wall of a furnace, is placed, a charging part for an object to be heated and dried is situated at the upper part of the hood, and a discharge part at the lower part thereof. CONSTITUTION:A space between a hood 2 and the outer wall of a rotary furnace 1 forms a drop passage 3 for an object to be heated and dried. During the use of the rotary furnace 1, an object A to be heated and dried, e.g., cereals, is charged in the hood 2 through a charging part 4 from a hopper 5, and flow within the drop passage 3 along the outer wall of the rotary furnace. During said process, the object is heated and dried by means of a dissipation heat. As noted above, the object can be dried by means of a dissipation heat from an incinerating furnace body before it is charged in a melting processing device, and this reduces a melting processing energy per unit.

    • PURPOSE:To perform a continuous discharging of slug by a method wherein a slug discharging pipe passing through a furnace wall of a melting furnace is passed through the furnace wall, the slug discharging pipe is inclined upwardly and the slug and/or metal is overflowed and discharged from the slug discharging pipe. CONSTITUTION:A degree of upward inclination of slug discharging pipe 9 and a position of a side end part 9b in a furnace are preferably made such that a thickness Hb from the side end part 9b of the pipe 9 in the furnace to the level LSL of the slug layer is 100-300mm., preferably 200-300mm. and an inclination angle of about 15 deg.. The melting slug 4 may entangle the metal 3 when the slug is discharged from the slug discharging port 9a, the metal level LFe always keeps a position lower than the slug discharging port 9a, thereby a stable slug layer 4 can be formed. With this arrangement, a frequent degree of lifting or descending of the electrodes is reduced, a stable applied power can be attained and a continuous discharging of slug becomes possible.
