    • PURPOSE:To remove desulfurization slag without lowering the yield of hot iron and to keep the iron hot at a low cost by using air-pulverized converter slag after desulfurizing hot iron in a hot iron ladle. CONSTITUTION:Hot iron is received in a hot iron ladle from a blast furnace, and CaC2 as a desulfurizing agent is added to the iron and agitated to desulfurize the iron. Since desulfurization slag formed contains much S and deteriorates the quality of steel owing to resulfurization when fed into a converter together with the hot iron, it is required to remove the slag as thoroughly as possible. In order to remove the slag, air-pulverized converter slag is charged into the ladle aggregate the molten desulfurization slag, and the aggregated slag is removed from the hot iron in the ladle. The surface of the hot iron is convered with the converter slag in place of perlite, chaff or the like to keep the iron hot until it is charged into a converter.

    • PURPOSE:To repair a sliding open-close mechanism, an upper nozzle, sleeve bricks in a short time and at excellent adjustment preciseness, by inserting, in replacement and repair of a sliding open-close mechanism, an upper nozzle, and sleeve bricks of a converter tap hole, a steel pipe of an outer diameter equal to that of the tap hole into the sliding open-close mechanism, so as to fit into the hole sleeve. CONSTITUTION:Damaged sliding open-close mechanism 5 of a converter tap hole is removed. Then only the fused upper nozzle 3 is removed, sleeve bricks being left as it is. A new upper nozzle 3 is arranged at the fixed plate 6 side of a new sliding open-close mechanism 5. A steel pipe 11 on a diameter equal to that of the tap hole is inserted into the tap hole of the new mechanism 5 and the upper nozzle 3 so as to integrate the mechanism 5 with the upper nozzle 3. The insertion and loading of the pipe 11 is carried out so that the upper nozzle 3 may come into contact with the rear end of the sleeve bricks, than a kneaded material 10 is poured into the gap between the steel pipe 11 and the sleeve bricks in order to joint them. After completion of the operation, the steel pipe is drawn off, kneaded material is poured into the gap between the sleeve 2 and the upper nozzle 3, thus completing the replacement and repair.

    • PURPOSE:To rapidly stop the effluent of the slag at the end stage of the tapping work for the molten steel, by supporting the sprue stopping plug of the converter using the support bracket, and by inserting the plug into the molten steel in the converter, and by bringing down the plug using the hydraulic cylinder. CONSTITUTION:In case of tapping the molten steel out of the tapping hole 39 of the converter 11, the effluent of the slag at the end stage of effluent of molten steel is to be rapidly stopped; for this purpose, the plug is used for stopping the tapping hole 39 without setting up the converter. Hereupon, the turning arm 8 is horizontally freely rotatably attached to the upper and lower parts 4 installed in the staionary frame 1 so as to be freely elevating. The saddle 13 is attached to the turning arm 8 so as to be freely movable in the direction of length of the turning arm 8, and also, the support arm 16 is vertically freely rotatably attached to the saddle 13; in which, the tip of the support arm 16 is provided with the support bracket 42 for vertically freely movably supporting the support rod 41 for supporting the stopping plug for the tapping hole 39 of the converter 11. When the slag begins to flow out of the tapping hole 39, the support arm 16 is instantaneously turned downward by the hydraulic cylinder 18, and the plug rapidly closes the tapping hole 39.
