    • PURPOSE:To make an accurate judgement by measuring the plating current and the voltage at all times and judging that the metal strip breaks when the measured current value becomes smaller than a set current and the measured voltage becomes larger than a set voltage. CONSTITUTION:The set current value is stored previously in a current comparator 2 to which the measured current value is sent from an ammeter 4 all times and a comparator 2 calculates the large/small relation between the measured current value and set current value. Similarly, the set voltage value is stored previously in a voltage comparator 3 to which the measured voltage value is sent from a voltmeter 5 at all times and a comparator 3 calculates the large/ small relation between the measured value and set value. a judgement circuit 1 judges the breakage only when the measured current value is smaller than the set current value and the measured voltages value is larger than the set voltage value. The circuit 1 puts a breakage recognition relay 6 in line stopping operation almost at the same time according to the judgement result. Consequently, the line stops in an extremely short period to prevent an accident caused by the breakage of the metal strip.

    • PURPOSE:To retain stable agitation and refining, by measuring the back pressure and gas flow amount of tuye res for bottom blowing to detect clogging in them, and by altering the gas flow amount and the gas ratio of tuye res having the occurrence of clogging and of other tuye res to keep the total flow amount of gas and the total gas ratio constant. CONSTITUTION:Each back pressure of tuye res for bottom blowing 1a-1d and each flow amount of gas blown from pipes 10a-10d are measured with pressure guages 2a-2d and flow meters 3a-3d, 3'a-3'd. The measurements are input to an operation unit 4 and tuye res having the occurrence of clogging are detected. When e.g. a tuye re 1a gets clogged, the operation unit 4 instructs the flow amount controlling valves 5a, 5'a to increase the flow amount of gas or the O2 ratio in gas. On the other hand, the operation unit 4 gives instructions to flow amount controlling valves 5b-5d, 5'b-5'd to make compensations for the increased flow amount of gas or O2 ratio in gas in the tuye re 1a. Consequently, the flow amount of gas or the O2 ratio in gas in other tuye res 1b-1d is decreased and the total flow amount of gas and the total O2 ratio in gas are kept constant.

    • PURPOSE:To mount or exchange a bottom blowing nozzle in a converter easily without damaging the same by utilizing a dummy nozzle of the same outside dimensions as those of the bottom blowing nozzle in mounting said nozzle. CONSTITUTION:In newly installing or exchanging a bottom blowing nozzle of a converter, a flange 2 for nozzle mounting is formed to a shell 1 in the bottom part of the converter. A dummy nozzle A of roughly the same shape and size as those of the bottom blowing nozzle to be mounted is prepared and a sleeve brick 4 is mounted to this and is centered, after which it is inserted into the hole for mounting of the bottom blowing nozzle of the shell 1. The flange of the dummy nozzle A and the flange 2 for mounting are coupled, and shapeless refractories such as mortar are packed between the brick 4 and the lining brick 4 of the furnace body. Next, the nozzle A is pulled out and the bottom blowing nozzle is inserted into the brick 4 and this completes the mounting.
