    • PURPOSE:To permit to improve heat exchanging performance by a method wherein a metallic sheet is connected to form a round pipe, the round pipe is flattened to form a flat tube and inner fins are inserted into the flat tube to increase the heat transfer area in the refrigerant side of the tube. CONSTITUTION:The round pipe is formed by rounding an aluminum flat sheet cladded with brazing agent on the front and back surfaces thereof, and welding it. The inner fins 13a, 13b, 13c are provided with a plurality of corners and are formed into the tubular body of star or triangular shape. The inner fins are inserted into the welded round pipe to obtain the incorporated condition thereof. Further, a plurality of such round pipes is combined. Next, the combined tubes are passed between two sets of rollers to obtain the flat tube 20. The flat tube 20 is bent into a meandering shape and corrugate fins 5 are interposed between the parallel parts of the tube, thereby completing the structure of the heat exchanger. According to this method, the heat transfer area in the refrigerant side may be increased and the heat exchanging performance may be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the titled thermostat with which the time for injecting the cooling water into an engine can be sharply reduced when the thermostat is first incorporated into the engine and is capable of performing the normal function once the engine is started by a method wherein a thermosensitive element, a main valve and a resilient space keeping member are provided. CONSTITUTION:In a condition in which the engine is not started, the space keeping member 7 bends a leaf spring 7b and is kept projecting into a path in which the main valve 3 moves toward a valve seat 4a while, in this case, the thermosensitive element 1 does not expand so that the main valve 3 is pressed against the valve seat 4a by a spring 2 and is in engagement with the leaf spring 7b. Accordingly, air is removed well at the time of injection of the cooling water into the engine since the main valve 3 is opened and not much time is required for the injection. Thus, when the engine is started, the main valve 3 moves downward through the operation of the thermosensitive element 1 to thereby make the thermostat perform the normal operation.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate air extraction at the time of feeding cooling water into an engine by ensuring that a thermo element can be freely slidden in the range of fully closed condition to a predetermined valve position of an auxiliary valve which is provided on the thermo element side of a thermostat. CONSTITUTION:When feeding the cooling water into the engine, the thermo element A falls under its own weight because the thermostat is placed substantially vertically and the thermo element A is fitted so that it can be freely slidden within the operating region of the auxiliary valve 5a formed at a shoulder part of a guide 5. Therefore, while an engaging piece 3 provided above the guide 5 makes contact with a main valve 4, the auxiliary valve 5a moves away from the main valve 4 to open the passage. Accordingly, a wide passage is secured, the air extraction if facilitated and the feeding-in of the cooling water can be facilitated. When the temperature of the cooling water is low after starting the engine, both the valves 4, 5a are closed. On the other hand, when the cooling-water temperature is high, a piston 6 is pushed upwards by the expansion of a wax 11 provided in the element A, and the auxiliary valve 5a and the main valve 4 are sequentially opened.
