    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cardiac function monitoring device which non-invasively and easily monitor a cardiac machine efficiency or a left ventricular endo- systolic elastance. SOLUTION: When a pressure-volume loop drawn per pulse approximates to a rectangle composed of a systolic constant pressure line and a diastolic constant pressure line which are two sides parallel to a volume axis, and a systolic constant volume line and a diastolic constant volume line which are two sides parallel to a pressure axis, a cardiac machine efficiency Ea /Ees is calculated by the cardiac machine efficiency calculation means 88 based on the pre-ejection period PEP found by a pre-ejection period calculation means 84 at every pulse and the ejection period LVET found by an ejection period calculation means 86 at every pulse according to the preset relation shown by a numerical formula 1 based on the fact that the ratio of the aortic effective elastance Ea and the left ventricular ends systolic elastance Ees , namely the cardiac machine efficiency Ea /Ees approximates to the ratio PEP/LV of the pre-ejection time PEP to the ejection period LVET of the heart. This device can thus easily and non-invasively monitor the cardiac function.
