    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sintered product capable of stably maintaining good mechanical properties at room temperature and in a high temperature region by adding a rare earth element oxide to molybdenum silicide powder accompanying SiO2 and subsequently sintering the powder mixture. SOLUTION: This sintered product has a tissue in which R2O3.nSiO2 (R is Sc and/or Y) that is the reaction product of SiO2 with a rare earth element oxide in a sintering process is dispersed in the particle boundary of MoSi2 matrix. The amount of the R2O3 using MoSi2 powder may suitably be set within a range of 0.5-20 mol.%. The sintered product is produced by adding R2O3 powder in an amount corresponding to an oxygen content to MoSi2 powder, homogeneously mixing the mixture by the use of a ball mill, etc., and subsequently subjecting the mixture to a hot press sintering treatment, an atmospheric pressure sintering treatment, etc. Thus, the produced silicate such as R2Si2O7 effectively reinforces the SiO2 glass phase. The MoSiO2 powder has a particle diameter of 0.5-5 μm, and the rare earth element oxide powder has a particle diameter of 0.5-3 μm.
