Next, a fastening pipe 8 is fitted in, and the fastening pipe 8 is fastened by a lock nut 43 with 20%-120% of the axial tension to be applied by twisting the lock nut 43 at the time of assembling to a center housing mechanism 3, for example with 80% of the axial tension. Next, the lock nut 43 is release to remove the fastening pipe 8, and after the unbalance is corrected, a described assembly material is fitted from a turbine 1 side into the center housing mechanism 3, and thereafter, a compressor impeller 22 is fitted.

    • PURPOSE:To make depth of a cylindrical part in a lower half part shallow and make working of metallic material easy, by dividing a tapped body in two up and down pieces combining each of them together by friction welding after forming each of them with homogeneous metal material, and bonding a ceramic plate to the bottom wall of the lower half part. CONSTITUTION:The tappet body 2 of a tappet 1A for an engine is formed in a cylindrical shape with a bottom, with both a cylindrical guide 3 and a bottom wall 4. A recess 6 to receive the lower edge of a push rod is formed in the inner face center of the bottom wall 4. In this case, the tappet body 2 is divided in two as a pipe-like upper half part 2a and a lower half part 2b which includes at least the bottom wall 4. Both upper and lower half parts 2a, 2b are made of homogeneous metal material respectively. Moreover, both upper and lower half parts 2a, 2b are bonded together by friction welding. On the other hand, a ceramic plate 8 is bonded to the outer face of the bottom wall 4 in the lower half part 2b. Because of this, it is possible that the depth of a cylindrical part in the lower half part 2b is made shallow and the working is easily done, even when deep hole working is necessary.

SOLUTION: A tappet 1 used for engine has a body 1a finished into a mushroom shape having a cylindrical shaft part 1 having a prescribed outer diameter Da and a circular major diameter part 3, seen from the bottom, having an outer diameter Db larger than the outer diameter Da, which is concentrically provided on the point of the shaft part 2. The linear end surface 4 of the major diameter part 3 is flatly formed, and a ceramic tip 21 forming a cam contact surface is bonded thereto by brazing. A recessed groove 6 having a prescribed sectional form is circumferentially provided near the end surface 4 on the circumferential surface 5 of the major diameter part 3. The recessed groove 6 preferably has a depth of 2-4mm and a thickness in the circumferential surface 5 of the major diameter part 3 of 1-2mm. The recessed groove has a substantially U-shaped, V-shaped, or circular sectional form.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce a material cost and work expense by dividing a tappet into an upper half part for constituting a guide part and a lower half part connected to a bottom wall, and integrating the upper half part with the lower half part by welding from an inner side. CONSTITUTION:A tappet 1 consists of a cylindrical guide part 3 and a bottom wall 2, and is in a bottomed cylindrical shape. A ceramic chip is jointed on the bottom wall 2. A semi-spherical recessed part 8, is formed in the center of the inner side surface of the bottom wall 2 in order to receive the bottom end of a push rod 6. The tappet 1 is formed by dividing it into an upper half part 3a for constituting the guide part 3 and a lower half part 3b connected to the bottom wall 2, fitting the recessed part and the projecting part of both end surfaces, to each other and welding together the fitting parts of the upper half part 3a and the lower half part 3b from the push rod side 6, namely, from the inner side of the tappet 1. It is thus possible to provide the tappet 1 with the ceramic chip connected thereto at a low cost.
