    • PURPOSE:To effectively prevent the sintering of an electrode by a heat resisting substance, to improve responsiveness and low temperature operability, and also, to prevent contamination caused by a substance to be poisoned by forming an electrode of an oxygen sensor element by a platinum group metal in which the heat resisting substance is dispersed. CONSTITUTION:The title element consists of a structure in which a heat resisting substance is dispersed in a platinum group metal. Therefore, when an electrode is subjected to heat treatment, a fine (for instance, 0.1-1.0mum) hole can be formed. As for the reason why this hole is formed, it is considered that insufficient wetting of the heat resisting substance against the platinum group metal is one factor, and in this sense, it is desirable that the heat resisting substance of insufficient wetting against the platinum group metal is used. In such a way, as the result of a fact that many holes are formed in the electrode, the gas permeability is improved, and accordingly, the responsiveness is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a high Jc uniform over the whole and allow application as a magnetism shielding material by forming honeycopmb structure with any desired section configuration. CONSTITUTION:An oxide type superconductor concerned is constructed in such an arrangement that a shell 2 and its inside are formed consolidated in so-called honeycomb structure, wherein the size and shape of the superconductor may be as any desired. In this honeycomb structure 1, honeycomb holes penetrate the superconductor in various shapes continuously and stretching long-axially. Accordingly the cells 3 constituting the honeycomb structure are arranged densely in the cross-section of the structure and oriented so that the thickness of cell bulkhead is uniform everywhere. The shape of cell may be embodies as any desired. This achieves a certain specified thickness, a high critical current density (Jc) uniform over the whole, and an enhanced magnetism shielding ability.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain an oxygen sensor having improved responsiveness by providing plural electrodes to an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte, forming a porous ceramic coating on the electrode to be exposed to a gas to be measured and subjecting the part where the coating layer is formed to a heat treatment in a reducing atmosphere.

      2 or butane cracking gas contg. about 10% CO. The porosity in the surface part of the electrode 4 is thus restored by the reducing heat treatment and the oxygen sensor having the improved responsiveness in low and high temp. regions and the excellent durability is thus obtd.

    • PURPOSE:To enhance the gas permeability of a measuring electrode and to improve low-temp. workability so the gas responsiveness is improved by providing pores of 0.01 to 5mum average pore size on the surface of the electrode formed to an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:The oxygen sensor 1 is formed with the measuring electrode 3 to be exposed to a gas to be measured and the reference electrode 4 to be exposed to a standard gas on the inside and outside surfaces of the solid electrolyte 2 formed to a blinded cylindrical shape. A protective layer 6 consisting of spinel, etc., is formed on the surface of the electrode 3 in order to be provided with the corrosion resistance and heat resistance to the gas to be measured. The electrodes 3, 4 has the pores 5 and the pores 5 are in contact with the surface of the solid electrolyte 1. The pores 5 of the electrode 3 communicate with the pores 3 of the protective layer 6 and the average size thereof is 0.01 to 5mum. The reason for limiting the average size to this range lies firstly in that the permeability of the oxygen molecules decreases with =5mum.

    • PURPOSE:To properly enhance the gas permeability of a measuring electrode, to improve low temp. operability and, at the same time, to enhance gas response, by setting the average particle size of electrode material crystals on the surface of an electrode layer to 0.1-5.0 times the thickness of the electrode layer. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen sensor element 11 is fixed to the stepped part 15 of a housing 13 by a sealant 17 and an outside electrode 19 is electrically brought into contact with the housing to be electrically connected to the outside through the housing 13. Further, an inside electrode 21 is connected to the signal detection circuit outside the element 11 through a center electrode 23. For example, when the air/fuel ratio in exhaust gas is changed over by a computer for controlling an external engine of displacement of 1,500cc while the temp. of the exhaust gas is held to 350 deg.C to measure feedback frequency wherein sensor output changes, response is well as said frequency becomes high. In the same way, when the temp. of the exhaust gas is lowered from the temp. of 450 deg.C of the exhaust gas of the engine whose displacement is 1,500cc to temp. making sensor output weak and bringing feedback control to a stop state, low temp. operability is enhanced as a measured value becomes low.
