    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing hexahydrophthalic anhydrides by hydrogenating tetrahydrophthalic anhydrides by a fixed bed hydrogenation reaction not requiring high pressure while extremely reducing byproduction of hexahydrophthalides.
      SOLUTION: The high-quality hexahydrophthalic anhydrides are produced in high yield while hardly producing byproducts by using a nickel-carrying molded catalyst in which the proportion of the carried nickel atom is 0.1-10%, and carrying out the hydrogenation at 70-145°C reaction temperature under 0.5-1.0 MPa reaction pressure in the fixed bed hydrogenation reaction of the tetrahydrophthalic anhydrides.
