    • PURPOSE:To control the defect of a spike, etc. by forcibly deforming to the ellipse that its major axial direction intersects at right angles each other at the vicinity of the surface of the body to be welded and the vicinity of the penetration root part the shape of the electron beam on the electron beam axis and vertical plane. CONSTITUTION:The electron beam shape control device 3 composed of the plural magnetic poles or electrodes having >=two poles under the convergent lens 2 is set up to control the shape on the electron beam axis and vertical cross section. The welding is performed by adjusting the major axis in the elliptical shape of the electron beam so as to become in the weld line direction as the 5b close to the surface of the body to be welded and in the right angles direction with the weld line as 8b close to the penetration root part. In this case, the molten metal is smoothly flowed out of the inside of the electron beam hole 11, the local hollow of a solidified wall 10 is dissolved and the porosity and solidification crack are prevented due to the electron beam hole 11 being enlarged in the weld line direction by the electron beam 5b close to the surface of the body to be welded. In the vicinity of the root part the control in the spike and cold shut can be performed in partial penetration welding by the electron beam 8b.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent defects such as a spike likely to occur at the front end of bead, by detecting the ripple of high-voltage welding power to detect the displacement of the focus of an electron beam and performing feedback control. CONSTITUTION:The focus of the electron beam 1 performs vertical oscillation due to the ripple of the high-voltage power 8. A voltage drop measured by a low resistance 10 is passed through a band-pass filter to detect the displacement of the focus. A feedback signal is processed through a trigger signal generator 21, a delay circuit 22 and a function generator 23 to produce appropriate pulses 23B. The DC component 13B of the current of the electron beam is applied to a grid voltage control circuit 24 to produce an output voltage 24 to control the DC component at a set level. The pulse voltage 23B and the DC voltage 24B produced by the circuits 23, 24 are added to each other to generate a signal 25. When the signal 25 is applied to a voltage raising circuit, a bias voltage is caused between a filament 2 and a grid 3 to control the level of the current of the electron beam.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the various defects of an undercut, vertical crack, etc. and to increase the efficiency in welding work by performing the welding with the use of the electron beam forcibly deformed in the ellipse having the major axis in welding direction or in the similar shape therewith. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic field to form the electron beam is produced by the four magnetic poles 3a-3d excited by four exciting coils 3a'-3d'. The opposing magnetic poles 3a and 3c, 3b and 3d are respectively of the same pole, having the same magnetic potential. In case of the magnetic pole 3a and 3c being taken as N pole and the magnetic pole 3b and 3d as S pole, the force to diverge in the axial X direction and to converge in the axial Y direction acts on the electron beam 1 inside the electron beam shape control device 3. With setting to the proper value the current passed to a convergent lens 2 and the current passed to each exciting coils 3a'-3d' of the electron beam shape control device 3, the electron beam 1a-1c becomes in the elliptical shape having the major axis in the weld line direction always inside the electron beam hole 6.

CONSTITUTION:Since the electrons emitted from the molten part of a welded piece 6 reach a detection electrode 3, the focus of the electron beam is detected. A feedback signal 5B is triggered through a trigger signal generator 21, a delay circuit 22 and a function generator 23 so that appropriate pulses 23B of duration not longer than the half period of the feedback signal 5B are produced. A DC component 17B is detected by a low voltage filter 17 from the voltage drop of high-voltage power 11 due to a resistor 19 and is applied to a grid voltage control circuit 24 to produce an output voltage 24B for a set level. The pulse voltage 23B and the control voltage 24B generated by the circuits 23, 24 are added to each other to produce a voltage 25. When the voltage 25 is applied to a grid voltage raising circuit 15, a bias voltage 25 is applied to a grid voltage raising circuit 15, a bias voltage is caused between a filament 12 and a grid 14 to control the level of the current of the electron beam.
