    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder for firing which, in ceramic manufacturing or sintered metal manufacturing (powder metallurgy), sufficiently disperses a raw material powder, can bind the raw material powder together, retains moldability needed in post-processing, and has such a low residual carbon content as to retain properties after firing.SOLUTION: The binder for firing contains a powdered resin comprising a thermoplastic resin and a carboxylic acid-containing olefin resin and/or a fatty acid. When the binder for firing is used for manufacturing a ceramic component or for manufacturing a sintered metal component (powder metallurgy), the binder sufficiently disperses a raw material powder (metal powder, graphite powder or inorganic material powder), can bind the raw material powder together, retains moldability needed in post-processing, and has such a low residual carbon content as to retain properties after firing, therefore a more favorable ceramic component or sintered metal component can be manufactured as compared with a conventional one. When a green tape is formed, it can retain high strength and elongation and is excellent in moldability.

The coating material causes no separation phenomenon, can be used as it is, enables a spray coating, and has a nonconventional functional effect such that the material is excellent in adhesiveness to a hardly-adhesive plastic, particularly to various resin molded products comprising polypropylene or various engineering plastics.
